Essential Gear for Your Triathlon Holiday

A training camp week only works if your kit does. Bring the wrong gear, or untested gear, and you’ll spend the week managing discomfort instead of building fitness. Here’s exactly what to pack for a week at a Mallorca-based training camp.

Essential Gear for your SunTri Triathlon Holiday includes wet suite, trainers. bike, water bottles, trainers, smart watch etc.

Wetsuit

Essential for open water sessions — a triathlon-specific wetsuit gives you buoyancy, warmth and reduced drag. Test it before you travel; camp week is not the time to discover it chafes.

Tri-suit

Worn across all three disciplines without a change, a tri-suit removes friction (literally and logistically) from transitions. Look for breathable, quick-drying fabric and a genuinely snug fit.

Swim gear

  • Goggles — bring both clear and tinted lenses for different light conditions.
  • A brightly coloured swim cap, for visibility in open water.
  • A pull buoy and paddles if you want to work specifically on technique during pool sessions.

Bike and cycling gear

  • Your road or triathlon bike, serviced and in good condition before you travel — or hire one, see below.
  • A helmet — non-negotiable, and required for all group rides.
  • Cycling shoes that are already broken in and compatible with your pedals.
  • A basic repair kit: spare tubes, a multi-tool, tyre levers.

Don’t want to fly with a bike? SunTri offers bike rental on a fleet of BMC carbon road bikes, fitted to you on arrival.

Running shoes

Bring the pair you already train in. A training camp is not the moment to break in something new — pack a second pair for recovery runs or casual wear if you have one.

Accessories for Performance and Recovery includes, GPS watch, Hydration system, Massage ball and chaff stick

Recovery and performance extras

  • A hydration system — bottle or pack — for bike and run sessions.
  • A GPS watch, if you want to track pace and effort through the week.
  • A foam roller or massage ball for working out tight muscles after big sessions.
  • Chafing cream or anti-blister balm — cheap insurance against a genuinely miserable few days.

Weather-appropriate clothing

  • Light layers for cooler mornings and evenings.
  • Sun protection: hat, sunglasses, sweat-resistant sunscreen.
  • A light waterproof, just in case.

Nutrition essentials

Bring the energy gels, bars and electrolyte products you already train with — camp is not the week to experiment with something new mid-session.

Travel essentials

  • A triathlon backpack with separate compartments for wet gear and shoes.
  • Your airline’s baggage policy checked in advance, especially if you’re flying with a bike.
  • A small first aid kit — plasters, pain relief, any personal medication.
